In 2016, Anthony Alvo became a Fundamentals of Law Enforcement Instructor at Rialto High School, Rialto, CA. He is a Career and Technical Education instructor who teaches students about the academic standards, technical skills, and personal traits that are desirable within the law enforcement industry.
Prior to entering into the field of education, Anthony amassed nearly twenty years of law enforcement experience. He began his career as a police officer for the Los Angeles Police Department and carried over his experience to the Chino Police Department until he retired. He transitioned from police officer to public safety dispatcher for both the Chino Police Department and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department (SBCSD) where he was subsequently promoted to Public Safety Dispatcher Trainer and assigned to the Training Unit.
Anthony was also a field radio operator in the United States Marine Corps. During his 12 years of military service he reached the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served overseas in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and the Global War on Terrorism.
Since 2009, Anthony has been a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Basic Dispatch Academy Instructor at Rio Hondo Community College Whittier, CA. During his time as a public safety dispatcher for San Bernardino County he also instructed at the SBCSD Dispatch Academy. He teaches numerous learning domains for the POST Basic Dispatch Academy, as well as advanced dispatch training including, “Public Safety Dispatcher’s Role in Mass Casualty and Fatality Incidents” and “Dispatcher’s Response to School Based Incidents.”
He combines his knowledge of Terrorism and police field experience to elicit the gravity of the subject matter.
Anthony possesses a POST Advanced Dispatch Certificate, Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal and Social Justice, and a Master’s Degree in Education with a Specialization of Teaching Adults from Ashford University Clinton, Iowa as well as a Career and Technical Education teaching credential from California State University at San Bernardino. He is also a graduate of the POST Academy Instructors Certification Course, Instructor Development Institute (IDI) Level II, and IDI Advanced Instructor Course Level III, Class #22.
