Mike Madden brings nearly three decades of public safety experience handling critical events and managing crisis. His passion for wellness and commitment to the first of the first responders make him a relentless advocate for the 9-1-1 community.
As an officer, Mike served as a field training officer, a department recruiter, as a member of the bicycle mounted enforcement team and as a motor officer. Upon promotion to detective, Mike served in the Specialized Crimes Unit, as a lead investigator in Crimes Against Children. When he promoted to the rank of sergeant, Mike served as a Patrol supervisor before being assigned as the Specialized Crimes Unit Supervisor.
Mike promoted to lieutenant in 2012 and served as an area commander and watch commander before taking over Dispatch and Records operations. While serving in that capacity, Mike found himself as being the first of the first responders on scene at the Inland Regional Center terrorist attack in which 14 innocent lives were lost and another 22 were wounded on December 2, 2015. This tragic incident was covered by local, national and worldwide media outlets and in the time since, Mike has been called upon frequently to discuss with others the lessons learned from that day and he brings this unique experience to the classroom as an instructor with Kim Turner, LLC.
For over 15 years, Mike served on the Hostage Negotiations Team as a negotiator, team leader and ultimately as the commander of the team. In this capacity, Mike helped develop the Unit’s training curriculum and helped in establishing his department Tactical Dispatch Team however his proudest accomplishment is that of husband and father.
